Jessica Huntington

People's Choice Award

Can you remember...
when you were a high school senior with your life before you?
Did you dream of the future and what life could be?
Did you laugh with old friends and make big plans
for life after graduation?

Can you imagine…
your mom diagnosed with breast cancer?
Your dreams of dorm rooms and new friends  are quickly replaced
with hospital rooms and doctors, and yet,
deep down inside you wonder…
“What about me?”

Together We Stand

Providing emotional & financial support to children of breast cancer victims.

Hello everyone, I am Jessica Huntington, the founder of  Together We Stand. One of the most popular concerns among breast cancer victims is, “What will happen to my children?” Two years ago my godmother endured the fight for her life against breast cancer. Together We Stand  is  a reflection of my way of reaching out not just to my family, but to other families who are suffering from the side effects of breast cancer. Together We Stand is a grass roots organization that provides financial and emotional support to the children of breast cancer victims. Our goal is to offer a hand up for young people who often feel guilty, afraid, or ashamed of admitting their own needs. Together We Stand has provided college scholarships, established  online interaction of victims and supporters, and provided emotional support through camp counseling. Together We Stand  is something we are proud of and something that is growing and firmly in place for years to come.

Jessica is a 17 year old honor graduate lettering in soccer and golf. In high school, her involvement in extracurricular activities such as student council and debate provided  a foundation for thinking outside of herself and considering the needs of others. Long before  her first crown, Jessica was adopting families at Christmas, delivering Meals on Wheels, and donating blood for Red Cross.  In addition to local charities, she  is the state representative for the DASH  (Domestic Abuse Stops Here) Foundation and has been a guest speaker on national television  through the Trinity Broadcasting Network  to promote healthy teen relationships and  prevent teen dating violence. In addition to presentations, she conducts workshops at Boys and Girls clubs working with same sex and co-ed groups on breaking the cycle of dating violence.  Although she has an extended resume of community service, Together We Stand has her heart.  Last   summer Jessica presented  a young lady with a college scholarship and received a call the following week that the young lady’s mother had passed away; This year Jessica is a counselor at Camp Braveheart, a bereavement  camp for young people who have lost  a parent or loved one. Although she went as an assistant for a breast cancer victim, Jessica was humbled by the stories  and courage of  these very special children.  Jessica believes that community service is most beneficial for teens when the effects of their service can be seen and felt. Through this concept she has led others  in serving and grown as a contributing member of society.
